‌The core steps of making wooden coasters include material selection, fixing wood blocks, base treatment and assembly molding. The specific process is as follows:

Production method (wood block splicing method)

Material preparation

Wood selection: Select dry wood blocks of different sizes (such as oak, walnut, etc.), with a recommended thickness of 5-10mm. ‌
Tools and accessories: hot glue gun, silicone pad (or waterproof base), cardboard, scissors.
‌Wood block fixing‌

Arrange the wood blocks on the surface of the silicone pad according to the design pattern, and glue them one by one with hot glue to ensure uniform gaps. In this step, pay attention to the consistency of the wood grain direction to enhance the aesthetics.
‌Base reinforcement‌

Cover the back of the silicone pad with cardboard and cut off the excess to enhance the support and insulation of the coaster. If you want higher durability, you can replace it with a thin wooden board.
‌Finishing treatment‌

After the hot glue is completely dry, use sandpaper to polish the edges until smooth, and finally apply wood wax oil or food-grade varnish to protect the surface.
Other production methods supplement
If the ‌weaving method‌ (non-pure wood) is used:

Use the core-spun rope to form the main body of the coaster through circular weaving, and fix the thread ends with alcohol glue or stitches, which is suitable for quickly making decorative coasters. However, it should be noted that this method is mainly applicable to fiber materials, which is quite different from wood craftsmanship. ‌
Key points
‌Wood pretreatment‌: Make sure that the wood is fully dried to avoid deformation and cracking in the later stage.
‌Adhesive selection‌: Food-grade environmentally friendly glue is recommended to avoid the release of harmful substances at high temperatures.
‌Size adaptation‌: The diameter of the coaster is usually 10-15cm, which needs to be adjusted according to the size of the bottom of the commonly used cups
