Celebrating 10 Years of Guanglong

July 21, 2015 - July 21, 2025

Ten years ago, in the bamboo-rich hills of Fujian, China, our founder Tina Zeng had a vision: to transform the region's abundant natural bamboo into beautiful, sustainable products that would find their way into homes around the world. On July 21, 2015, Fujian Guanglong Bamboo & Wood Co., Ltd. opened its doors with a small workshop, a handful of skilled craftsmen, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Today, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we reflect on a journey that has been challenging, rewarding, and deeply fulfilling-a journey we've shared with partners and customers who believed in us from the very beginning.

A Decade Complete, A Future Unfolding

As we mark our 10th anniversary this July 21st, we do so with gratitude and humility. We now ship over 50 million products annually to more than 30 countries. We've earned the trust of retail giants and Amazon sellers alike. We hold numerous design patents and maintain all major industry certifications.

But numbers don't tell the complete story. What we're most proud of is simpler: we've kept our promises. When an Amazon seller needs a reliable supplier who delivers on time, they call Guanglong. When a major retailer needs a manufacturing partner who won't compromise on safety or sustainability, they choose us. When a customer picks up one of our bamboo cutting boards in a store, they're holding something made by craftspeople who take pride in their work.

From Tina's original vision to today's reality, we've stayed true to our brand philosophy: high quality, zero worries, and great reputation. These aren't just marketing words-they're the principles that guided us through early struggles, helped us weather crises, and built relationships that have lasted years.

Quality at Scale

Success brought its own challenge: maintaining our quality standards while scaling production. We could have chosen speed over precision, volume over craftsmanship. We chose differently.

We invested in advanced quality control systems, including automated moisture testing and defect detection, while keeping human inspectors for final checks. We created comprehensive training programs for new craftspeople, ensuring they understood not just how to make our products, but why quality mattered. Every person in our facility knows that somewhere in the world, a family will use what we make to prepare meals, share food, and create memories.

We also deepened our commitment to sustainability. We partnered exclusively with FSC-certified bamboo forests, implemented a zero-waste manufacturing process where offcuts become components for smaller products, and transitioned to plastic-free, recyclable packaging

Innovation and Expansion

Emerging from the pandemic, we entered a period of creative expansion. We'd listened carefully to feedback from our retail partners and Amazon sellers-they wanted fresh designs, more variety, and products that stood out in a crowded marketplace.

We established our in-house design team and began filing design patents for innovative products: tiered cheese board sets, bamboo organizers with custom compartments, expandable drawer dividers, and serving boards with integrated ceramic bowls. We also launched our collaboration with Smirly, creating exclusive designs that blended their vision with our manufacturing expertise.

By 2022, our product catalog had grown from the original 12 items to over 150 SKUs. We'd expanded our workshop twice and now employed over 200 skilled craftspeople. Our annual shipments exceeded 30 million units, reaching customers in 28 countries across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

Navigating Unprecedented Challenges

No reflection on the past decade would be complete without acknowledging 2020. When the pandemic hit, global supply chains froze, and businesses everywhere struggled to survive. For weeks, we wondered if orders would stop completely.

Instead, something unexpected happened. As people spent more time at home, they invested in their kitchens and living spaces. Demand for our bamboo kitchen products-cutting boards, utensil holders, bread boxes-actually increased. But shipping was chaos, container costs skyrocketed, and many of our competitors simply couldn't deliver.

We made a decision that defined who we are as a company. Rather than cancel orders or dramatically raise prices, we absorbed increased costs and worked with our partners to find solutions. We consolidated shipments, negotiated with multiple freight forwarders, and communicated constantly with every client about realistic timelines. Some orders took longer than usual, but we fulfilled every single one.

Our clients noticed. In a year when reliability was scarce, Guanglong proved reliable. Several partners told us that we were one of the only suppliers who kept their word during that difficult period. Those relationships, forged in crisis, remain among our strongest today.

The Certification Journey

As we entered our fourth year, we faced a new challenge: meeting the increasingly rigorous requirements of major retailers. Walmart and Costco had both expressed interest in our products, but they required certifications we didn't yet have-FDA approval for food-contact items, FSC certification for sustainable sourcing, and BSCI for social compliance.

Some manufacturers might have tried to cut corners or delay this investment, but Tina understood that these certifications weren't just paperwork-they were proof of our commitment to safety, sustainability, and ethical manufacturing. We spent most of 2019 working toward these certifications, upgrading our facilities, documenting our supply chain, and implementing new worker welfare policies.

The process was exhaustive and expensive, but when we earned our certifications later that year, doors opened. We secured our first major order from Costco-100,000 bamboo cutting board sets. It was the largest order we'd ever received, and we delivered every piece on time and to specification. That Costco order validated years of hard work and opened the door to partnerships with other major retailers.

Building Trust Through Adversity

By our second year, we were growing, but growth brought new challenges. In early 2017, we faced a crisis that could have ended everything. A shipment of bamboo utensil holders developed minor cracking issues after reaching the humid climate of Florida. The defect rate was only about 3%, but for us, that was 3% too many.

Instead of making excuses, we took full responsibility. We immediately shipped replacements at our own cost and flew our production manager to visit the client's warehouse to inspect the products firsthand. More importantly, we went back to our workshop and completely redesigned our drying and curing process. We invested in climate-controlled drying chambers and extended our quality control period from 48 hours to one week.

That problem cost us money in the short term, but it earned us something invaluable: a reputation for standing behind our products. Word spread among Amazon sellers and retailers that Guanglong didn't just make excuses-we made things right. By the end of 2017, our client base had grown from five to twenty-three, and our product line expanded to include bamboo drawer organizers and storage boxes.

The Early Days-Finding Our Footing

Every business has a beginning that tests your resolve, and ours was no exception. In those first months, Tina and our small team faced a fundamental challenge: how do you convince international buyers to trust a new manufacturer they've never heard of, located thousands of miles away?

Our first breakthrough came through persistence and product quality. We started with what we knew best-classic bamboo cutting boards and cheese boards. We attended our first trade show in Guangzhou with samples we'd crafted by hand, each piece sanded and inspected multiple times. The response was encouraging, but orders were small. One Amazon seller from California took a chance on us with an initial order of just 500 cutting boards.

We knew this was our moment. Every single board in that order was inspected three times before shipping. We included detailed product care instructions in English and responded to every email within hours, despite the time difference. When those boards arrived on time, exactly as specified, we didn't just complete a transaction-we earned our first returning customer. That seller is still with us today, now ordering containers, not samples.

Looking Forward

The next decade brings new opportunities and challenges. We're exploring new materials, developing smart storage solutions, and expanding into emerging markets. But whatever changes, our core commitment remains unchanged: we craft natural, eco-friendly products that bring the warmth and beauty of nature into homes worldwide.

To our partners at Costco, Walmart, Smirly, and the hundreds of Amazon sellers and retailers who've trusted us over these ten years-thank you. You didn't just place orders; you partnered with us, offered feedback, and helped us improve. Your trust has been the foundation of our growth.

To our team here in Fujian-the craftspeople, quality inspectors, logistics coordinators, designers, and everyone who makes Guanglong what it is-this achievement belongs to you.

And to our customers around the world who choose our products-thank you for letting us be part of your daily lives. Every cutting board that prepares a family meal, every organizer that brings order to a busy kitchen, every cheese board that hosts friends on a special evening-these are the moments that make our work meaningful.

Here's to the next ten years of partnership, quality, and bringing nature home.
